Sixth grade families plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of activities to raise funds for an end of the year party and a gift to the school with any leftover funds. In previous years, class t-shirts and a 6th grade memory book have been purchased for all sixth graders, as well. These fundraising activities include: Donuts with Grownups events (Fall and Spring) and water bottle sales at the spring program.
We are in need of volunteers to help coordinate some of the following activities that are described below. You will find a signup genius link if you are interested in helping plan these events. If you can't help organize an event and would just like to donate some money to these events, you can send cash/check to school (made out to PLV PTA and memo: 6th grade activities) or click here for a monetary donation. All donations are completely optional. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donuts with a Grownup (Fall) - Information has already been sent out for this event. Sixth grade students work the event (set up tables/chairs, take tickets, serve milk/coffee/donuts). We will need a few parents to help oversee the event as well. Click here to help out. Since this event is happening so soon on September 9, Megan and Amy have already begun taking care of these details.
Spring Program Water Bottle Sales - 6th graders sell water bottles during both the morning and afternoon performances. We will need someone to coordinate the details. Date: April 18. Spring Program Flowers for Music and Band Teachers - The flowers are a gift from 6th grade students to say thank you. We will need someone to arrange the purchasing of the flowers and the presentation after the afternoon performance.
Donuts with a Grownup (Spring) - See above description for Donuts with a Grownup. The spring event takes place in April.
T-shirts - We will need someone to arrange the design for the Class of 2029 shirt, including student/teacher names on the back, ordering forms, pickup/delivery, etc. No specific date but the sooner the better so the kids can wear them throughout their 6th grade year.
Memory Book - This is a photo book that highlights the 6th graders from Kindergarten to 6th grade. This volunteer will need to collect digital photos from parents and design the layout of the book. Submission is usually in April, but the work needs to be completed throughout Jan-April. We can provide previous years' examples for inspiration, if needed, but welcome all new ideas.
End of Year Party - We are looking for someone to plan a celebration as elementary school comes to an end for our 6th graders. Previous parties have been located at the high school with a pool party but last year's outdoor event at Pleasant View was a big hit on a smaller scale. No need to break the bank on this, just needs to be a fun celebration for the kids. The party is usually early/mid May.
Gift to School - Any funds remaining are used to leave a gift to the future generations at Pleasant View. These have included adding artwork to halls and donating to the resurfacing of the track in recent years.
6th Grade Fingerprint Plate - This is a Fall Fest Silent Auction item that is a big hit every year. Mad Potter will come to the school and every 6th grader and 6th grade teacher will submit a fingerprint for the plate. The plate will go back to Mad Potter and will become the masterpiece you will bid on at Fall Fest on September 23. We are asking for donations to cover this and other 6th grade activities. You can send cash/check to school (made out to PLV PTA and memo: 6th grade activities) or you can donate online at this link. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whew! That was a lot of information! Thanks for making it through! Now what? Click on this link to help organize a specific event, or follow up when these events occur throughout the year!
